To guarantee a perfect preparation for your planned surgery and fast wound healing, we would like to share some important information with you. Additionally to our first consultation session, we will provide you with an information handout which gives detailed instructions about your treatment.

Before surgery

Start taking arnica globules (C30, 5×5) one week before your planned treatment. They are placed under your tongue until they are completely dissolved. It is proven that a consequent intake of arnica guarantees a better and faster wound healing.

On the day of your treatment, please present yourself at our surgical facility without wearing makeup or cream. To optimally protect your eyes after facial surgery, please bring big sunglasses to wear after the treatment. Comfortable clothing, a big hat and/or scarf give you a feeling of security when leaving the clinic.

After surgery

We ask you to religiously follow our instructions after surgery and to nurse yourself, especially on the 7 postoperative days.

Special bandages worn right after surgery will be removed one day after the treatment. After this, wounds will only be protected with special plaster strips. To quickly reduce swelling and avoid bruising, a tape or compression bandage is worn and should not be removed for the following two days.

Depending on the surgery you have undergone, sutures are removed after a maximum time of two weeks. If wound healing remains problem-free, you can carefully shower and wash your hair, but make sure to use tepid water. In the six post-operative weeks your should not use sauna, steam bath, tanning bed or get your hair treated with tint or dye.

In the first two weeks after surgery, it is recommended to sleep with the head in a slightly higher position than the body, and you should not resume any activity or exercise until that time (incl. bending over or lifting things).

After your wounds have healed completely, you can go back to wearing light makeup. Once sutures have been removed, your scars should be treated with a fatty ointment or a medical lotion. Gently massage it in twice a day.

In case you are a smoker, please refrain from smoking so that your wounds can heal out nicely.

You will have a post-op visit six weeks after surgery, where we will discuss any further steps.

FAQs

How will I feel after surgery?

It is quite normal to feel slightly uneasy or dizzy once the effects of anesthesia begin to dissipate. Normally it gets better after a short time.

In the first post-operative days, the areas where you had surgery might feel a little tight and bumpy, and they might also show swelling and bruising. The skin in front of the ears may feel a little numb, but the feeling will come back soon. Once the swelling fades, a possible light asymmetrical appearance will also go away.

What will my scars look like?

Incisions are made in the most inconspicuous areas: they follow the contours of the junction of the ear with the cheek, extend into your hair and/or behind the ears and under your chin. In the first months, the scars will still be a little redder than the rest of your skin and feel itchy. This is a good indicator for a correct healing process. The redness will fade soon, and after about one year the scars will be almost invisible.

When can I go back to normal life after my surgery?

After your first follow-up check – usually 7 days after surgery, you can start to wear light makeup again. Normally, bruising and swelling has more or less resolved after one week. Sometimes it takes a little longer until … has normalized. Keeping this in mind, we recommend not to set any important appointments before 3 weeks after your surgery. Do not resume physically demanding activities as well as any kind of workout before two weeks post-op.

What do I have to bring for my surgery?

Besides your personal things, cosmetics and maybe some toiletries you don’t need to bring anything else. You will get a compression garment if needed, and we will provide you with medication before and after the surgical treatment.

Prior to your surgery you will be handed out an information sheet with all important information about your individual treatment.

What kind of anesthesia will I get?

You will have your surgery performed either under general or local anesthesia, depending on the type and extent of the intervention. The general anesthesia is carried out by an experienced anesthetist.

How old do I have to be to have a breast augmentation?

Breast surgery can be taken into consideration after a completed breast development. We recommend our very young patients not to take any hasty decisions without taking a considerable amount of time to think about their desires.

Is breastfeeding possible with breast implants?

Durch eine Brustvergrößerung wird die Stillfähigkeit nach der Schwangerschaft nicht beeinträchtigt.

What is the best age to start having Botox treatment?

There is no recommended age for Botox treatments. It makes sense to preventatively treat areas that are prone to show first lines with targeted treatment so that these signs of aging don’t appear in the first place. Based on experience, currently women start using Botox short before reaching their 30s.

What form do breast implants have?

Basically, we speak about anatomic and round implants. They are both available in different varieties and sizes. Depending on the patient’s desires and her anatomy, it is the surgeon’s task to select the ideal breast implant.

Are there any treatments you would discourage a patient from doing?

Every year new methods are developed in our field. For several reasons, we recommend only few of them. We are happy to answer your questions and gladly inform you on the newest developments in the fields of plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.
